The Indian cricket authorities have tried their best to prepare pitches offering some assistance to pace bowlers, and now the Bangladesh Cricket Board is about to do the same, according to The Hindu.
The BCB’s decision to create seamer-friendly pitches in some of its centres was driven by various developments.
While the encouraging showing of Bangladeshi pacers at the last World Cup in Australia earlier this year was a source of hope, the lack of bench strength in this department was a cause of concern.
The recent Test series against Pakistan was a reflection of the true state of affairs.
With Rubel Hossain down with an injury and Sahadat Hossain retiring after bowling just two deliveries, Bangladesh was handicapped in its second Test against Pakistan last month.
The host slumped to a massive 328-run defeat and lost the series 1-0.
The BCB is now looking to groom young fast bowlers as this will ultimately help the Bangladesh team in international outings.
Accordingly, the BCB plans of introducing a few seaming tracks in the country and will conduct all levels of domestic competitions on such surfaces to help the pacers hone their skills.
