Multipurpose hall opens at DU
A multipurpose hall in the Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU) was inaugurated on Thursday, says a press release.
DU Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique and ABM Ghulam Mostofa, chairman, AFC Health Ltd, jointly inaugurated this hall.  AFC Health Ltd has given financial support to build this multipurpose hall. This hall, built with a capacity of accommodating 200 people, will be used for multiple purposes like conference, seminar, workshop etc. Arefin Siddique appreciated the cooperation of AFC Health and ABM Ghulam Mostofa, chairman of AFC Health Ltd, said that They will continue such initiative in future as a part of our Corporate Social Responsibility.  Sayadur Rahman, president of Bangladesh Merchant Bank Association, Kamal Uddin, treasurer of DU, Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, dean of the Faculty of Business Studies (DU), were also present on the occasion.

Isolation ward launched at RU medical centre

RAJSHAHI: The authority of Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday launched an isolation ward in its medical centre to provide necessary treatment to the patients suffering from various infectious diseases like pox, cholera, diarrhoea and skins.
The RU authority introduced the 22-bed ward with financial support from its Krishi Prokalpa. RU vice-chancellor Mijanuddin, Pro-VC Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Treasurer Sayen Uddin, Registrar Entajul Haque, Chief Medical Officer Tabibur Rahman Sheikh and Chief Engineer Sirajum Munir, among others, were present at the opening session.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mijanuddin said the varsity administration is pledged-bound to provide essential treatment to the university family members despite of its various limitation. Earlier on, digital x-ray, ultramodern ECG machine and physiotherapy unit were added to the centre and the patients concerned are getting positive results from the arrangements.

Orientation programmes held at EU

The orientation ceremonies for the students of undergraduate & graduate programmes of the spring semester of Eastern University (EU) were held in the university plaza on Saturday, says a press release.
Mehboob Chowdhury, CEO of Citycell, was the chief guest in the undergraduate programme and Md Mahsudur Rahman, FCA, FCMA, Group Head of Compliance, Rahimafrooz (Bangladesh) Limited was the chief guest in the graduate programme. Abul Khair Chowdhury, chairman of the Board of Trustees of EU, was the special guests while Abdur Rab, vice chancellor of EU, presided over the programmes.  The chief guests congratulated the newly admitted students and shared their success stories in the corporate sector.
