IGCC to screen �Krishnakali� today

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) is going to screen a documentary film titled �Krishnakali� on the life of noted Indian film and stage actor-poet Soumitra Chatterjee, directed by Bangladeshi documentary-maker Masud Karim, today at 4pm at the IGCC�s Gulshan premises in the city. Besides, presided over by Professor Emeritus Dr. Anisuzzaman, a group discussion will be held before the screening of the documentary. The documentary has been produced based on the vivid life journey of veteran actor Soumitra starting from his birth. Many unknown facts of his life have been unveiled in the documentary. Noted Lalon singer Farida Parvin has lent her voice to the title song of the documentary.
Earlier, the premiere show of �Krishnakali� was held at the Triguna Sen Auditorium at Jadavpur University, Kolkata on April 28, this year. �
Soumitra Chaterjee said about the documentary, �Masud Karim made the documentary after tireless efforts over the last one year. I express my gratitude and congratulate him�.
Masud Karim graduated from Dhaka University in 1982 and thereafter went to Japan, where he studied and worked as an Interpreter in Japanese national TV channel NHK for 13 years. After his return to Bangladesh in 1998, he worked in a Japanese multinational company and also worked as an editor for a community based newspaper called Kalabagan Barta. He is the founder of Kalabagan Welfare Society.
To note, the shooting of the documentary was partly done in Kolkata last year. The rest was completed in Krishnanagar, Nadia, India and Koya village, Kustia, Brahmanbaria, Dhaka in Bangladesh.
