A cactus bearing 1,000 flowers

In a flower bed of Ms. Zhang in Zhuyan village of Mingquan Township, Kunming, a cactus is bearing more than a thousand flowers. The yellow flowers as well as numerous red buds almost completely cover the huge caactus.

According to Ms. Zhang, the cactus, planned 15 years ago, only blossoms but never bears fruits. More surprisingly, in the morning and the evening, all the flowers close up, leaving only the buds, , and at about 10 o'clock, the flowers will begin to bloom and grow brighter and the brighter as the sunlight intensifies.

The number of flowers on each lobe of cactus ranges from four to twenty five and the acactus is about three meters high. Therefore it is no exaggeration to say that it is beraring more than one thopusand flowers.
