On June 3, as part of the "Retracing the Ancient Southern Silk Road, Ex ploring the New Pivot of China's Openin-up" Interview program in Yunnan, the 14 Sand SE Asian journalists came to Ruili City of Dehong Dai and Jingpo Prefecture, Yunnan Province and interviewed industrial park, manufacturing base, fi nancial institutions and com munications industry cluster, where they felt the strong economic pulse of Ruili in the context of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative.
Early in the morning, the interviewing group arrived at Ruili Datong Industrial Co., Ltd., a company doing businesses in foreign trade, processing trade, financial services and investment services. Thanks to its diver sified ransnational business development model, the company not only has entered the Myanmar cement packaging paper market but has made its presence feltin other Southeast Asian countries. Han Xuya, a journalist from Indonesia's International Daily News said, "Before coming to Dehong, I had thought that a remote prefecture in a frontier province must be backward.Unexpectedly, the visit to Datong Company changed my views. The Datong production line is highly efficient, and its technology will enjoy a great market in Indonesia." When the interviewing
group came to Yinxiang Motorcycle Assembly Plant, a lorryload of motorcycles were ready to be trans ported to Myanmar. At the plant, the advanced pro duction line and assembly workshops again surprised the journalists and evoked many questions. Rinku Ghosh from India's Pioneer asked, "Why aren't you selling such good motorcy cles to India?" Koh Chiew Heong from Malaysia's Sin Chew Daily asked, "Have Malaysian companies in vested in Ruili?" With all questions an swered, some journalists mounted the motorcycles for test rides. They all agreed that the Dehon g-made motorcycles are powerful and capable of fast acceleration. Nhem Sophal, a Cambodian journalist hoped that these motorcycles would soon be running on the roads in his country. There are many other products manufactured in Dehong. When the journalists got to Ruili Qisheng LCD TV Technology Co.,
Ltd., the mobile phones, tablet computers, television sets and other electronic products again aroused their interest. Mir Rahaman from The Independent of Bangla desh said, "Bangladesh has a population of about 160 million, representing a large market for these moderately priced electronic products." In fact, Rahaman was not the only one member of the interviewing group to show interest in the Dehong-made products. The journalists from Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Ma laysia asked about the possi bility of Dehong cooperating with their countries and they also went into some details. Some of them even bought the Dehong-made electronic products to be taken back to their coluge and friends.
The schedule was tight, but the excitement was always seen on the faces of the journalists. After the onsite consultation, interview and experience, Liladhar Upadhyaya, a Nepali journalist picked up an electromagnetic pen and wrote down the English word"superb" on the Qisheng 84 inch screen.
