The ‘Kali O Kolom Torun Kobi O Lekhok Puroshkar’ for the year 2015 will be handed over today at a function at the main auditorium of the capital’s National Museum. Renowned literary magazine Kali O Kalam will distribute the award to four aspiring young writers and researchers for their achievement and to encourage them in their pursuit of literary work. This year, Shameem Hossain is receiving the award for the poetry book titled ‘Dhaner Dhatree’, while Imran Khan for the book titled ‘Dhatab Somoy’ in category of literature. On the other hand, Ranjana Biswas will be awarded for the book titled ‘Bangladesher Palki O Palki Bahak: Nritattik O Sangskritik Dhara’ in category of essay and research and Salek Khokon for the book titled ‘Juddha Diner Gadya O Pramanya’ in category of liberation war-based novel. A jury board consisting of five members decided not to grant any award in the category of children’s book this year as they did not receive any standard book. Each of the winners will receive a crest, a cheque worth Tk 100,000 and a certificate. Presided over by Kali O Kolom Editor Professor Emirates Dr Anisuzzaman, wordsmith Selina Hossain and author Shankarlal Bhattacharya will speak at the event. After the award giving ceremony, the audience will be entertained with a live music performance by noted Tagore artiste Shama Rahman and recitation by Hasan Arif. To note, to encourage the young writers and poets of the country, Bangla monthly magazine ‘Kali O Kolom’ has been giving the prestigious ‘Kali O Kolom Torun Kobi O Lekhok Puroshkar’ since 2008.
