A senior BNP leader yesterday (Thursday) proposed that the Awami League-led government shift the mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Tongipara in Gopalganj to Dhaka, instead of removing BNP founder and the late President, Ziaur Rahman’s mazar from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. “We know that the mazar of your leader (Bangabandhu) is far away. But why should Zia's mazar be removed from Dhaka? You rather shift his grave to Dhaka. Please give up the plan,” said standing committee member, Nazrul Islam Khan, while addressing a meeting at Dhaka Reporters Unity to mark the birth anniversary of Ziaur Rahman. He warned that the attempt to remove the mazar of Ziaur Rahman would turn into a “nightmare".
