President Abdul Hamid yesterday asked the members of Bangladesh police to give special attention so that none is harassed while discharging their duties.
"You (members of police) have to be more dedicated for the welfare of the people. You have to keep in mind that it is the main responsibility of the law enforcement agencies to save public life and property. Special attention has to be given so that none is harassed while discharging your duties," he said. The president said this in his speech to police officials on the occasion of Annual Police Week-2016 at Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Mentioning that people are the source of all power in a democratic system, the president said the country and the government are run by public money.
"So welfare of the people has to be given priority in all spheres. Every member of the police has to become the friend of the people so that they can take police into their confidence and come for protection," he added.
The role of police is very important to maintain country's internal security as well as establish rule of law, said president Hamid. “Every member of the police has to discharge their duties with more firmness to ensure the country's overall development, security and establish social peace and justice,” he said.
