Government college teachers have deferred their ongoing three-day work-abstention protest until Feb 29 after the PM’s principal secretary and education secretary promised to fulfil their demands.
“We've suspended our protest until February 29. The Prime Minister’s principal secretary called our association president and me, and asked us to withdraw the protest, saying our demands will be met. The education secretary also gave us the same assurance,” IK Selim Ullah, secretary general of the BCS General Education Association, said yesterday.
Earlier, the teachers announced a three-day work-abstention from Jan 26. They had also threatened to shut down the colleges through indefinite work abstention if their demands were not met.
