The telecom operators are following “go slow” policy in the ongoing biometric SIM and Removable User Identity Module (R-UIM) registration, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications, Tarana Halim told The Independent yesterday
Expressing her dissatisfaction over the progress of re-registration process the state minster will meet with the telecom CEOs at secretariat today at 11:30 am to complete the registration process quickly.
According to Tarana, if any subscriber is not happy during doing his/here biometric registration it is a failure of quality of service.
The way the operators helped to set up the machineries for the biometric registration was commendable but the registration process needs a lot more to be desired, she also added.
The picture for the whole process is opaque as the news she gets from the operators is distant apart from the reality, the state minister said.
Some 300-400 allegations have been filed from various region of the country over biometric SIM registration including unavailability of the system, charging for the registration etc. According to her observation, mobile phone operators are not so sincere as expected in this regards.
Referring to the lots of allegations against the operators’ customer care centers and appointed agents for running the verification process, Tarana Halim said.
“They (operators) have to make explanation for those allegations . . . no one is beyond the accountability.”
The state minister urged the people to file complaints about the irregularities of telecom sector in her verified facebook page https://www.facebook.com/TaranaHalimMP.
Referring to different complaints, she informed that necessary steps have already been taken following the complaints filed in her facebook page.
