Bring demands for workers from Malaysia

Minister to recruiting agents
UNB

Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said the government has taken an initiative to engage private recruiting agencies to bring ‘demands’ of more Bangladeshi workers in the Malaysia labour market, reports UNB. He, however, said the government will send workers from those 22 lakh who have already enrolled their names in the government database under the government-to-government arrangement once the private recruiting agencies bring demands.
While talking to the news agency at his office, the minister said Bangladeshi workers are currently sent to Malaysia as per the demand of the country. “The private recruiting agencies have been asked to bring more demands from the country to boost the country’s manpower export.” About 7,000 workers have so far been sent to Malaysia through the G-to-G arrangement after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the two countries earlier. As per the agreement, workers are selected and sent by the government.
Mosharraf Hossain said the government has taken an initiative to amend the MoU for involving Bangladeshi private recruiting agencies in the government-to-government process for sending more workers to Malaysia.
About the benefit of the private agencies, he said they will get commission from the Malaysian agencies, which are eager to recruit Bangladeshi workers. He also termed ‘false’ recent media reports on bringing 20,400 Malaysia visas for workers by the private agencies.
