Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday arrested an alleged member of an international human trafficker gang from Uttara in the capital. The arrested was identified as Jasim Uddin. Talking to The Independent, Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) of DMP Jahangir Alam said getting secret information, a team of DB conducted a raid at a house at Utatra in the capital and arrested Jasim along with 14 international passports, some fake visas of Libya and fake air tickets from his possession.
During primary interrogation, Jasim admitted that he in association with his gang members took away huge amount of money from different people in the name of sending them abroad for better jobs.
Recently, he had sent Mostofa Manik, Johirul Islam, Abdul Kader, Shabuddin, Noor Alam and Akbar to another member of his gang to traffic them to Libya and Malaysia by a trawler.
Sensing troubles, all escaped from the trawler before it left for the sea but Kader could not escape.
Later he was trafficked to Malaysia but his family members are yet to trace him out, police said. Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam, who led the operation, said, “We are trying to arrest his other associates.”
