Police in a drive arrested six alleged kidnappers and rescued a schoolboy from Guimara Lake area in Khagrachari district on Friday night. Some Seven-eight criminals wearing masks stormed into a house at Nangolmora village of Hathazari upazila in Chittagong district on January 13 evening and picked up Shoheb Akhter Apon, 12. Son of Dubai expatriate Md Kabir the boy is a student of class-VII at Parboti High School in Hathazari upazila. Following the abduction his mother, Jesmin Akhter, filed a case with Hathazari Police station. The arrestees were identified as Nuruddin, 35, from Hathazari Upazila Nuruddin, 25,from Raozan Upazila , Md Sohel, 24, from Rangunia Upazila, Apu Das, 24, from Rangunia, Osman, 22, from Ranguniaof Chittagong and Shipul Nath,22,from Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati District. There had been a series of raid at Hathazari, Rangunia and Rangamati to rescue the boy, said Ismail, Officer-in-Charge of Hathazari Police Station. “In a drive from Friday night to Saturday morning in Guimara Lake area in Khagrachari district we became successful in rescuing boy after 11 days of his abduction,” he said. Family sources said there was a dispute going on between the boy’s father and a man named Mostafa over transaction of money. Kabir, father of the abducted boy, lodged a complaint against the man with Bangladesh Embassy in the UAE. Mostafa, angered by the move, retaliated by getting the boy kidnapped by hired criminals.
