Chief selector Faruque Ahmed yesterday said that they are moving forward with a long-term plan so they could form a balanced team in shorter-format of game like their one day performance.
“We’ve been planning to form a balanced team in Twenty20 since many days. We want to do it in long-term basis. For this, we have of course needed some qualify players. And so, we wanted to experiment on it taking risk in the home series against Zimbabwe ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 2016,” said Faruque Ahmed.
“It’s true that we lost the last two matches after winning the first two matches. Actually the experiment is not executed properly,” Ahmed told media at his residence in the capital after returning home from abroad.
The chief selector said that they all have to think the reality what our rankings in T20 and what type of team we are now in shorter version.
“We’ve to play against India and Pakistan in Asia Cup. Both are World champion teams. We’re now in 11th position in T20 (after losing two successive T20 matches against low-ranked Zimbabwe),” former skipper questioned.
“If we think we’d play in semi-final or final then it’ll not be pragmatic. We want Bangladesh will play better in T20 like one day and gradually develop in this format,” Faruque thought.
