A week long drama festival marking the 25th anniversary of Shabdaboli Studio Theatre ended in the city on Friday night.
Eleven teams are participated in the festival. They are Gentleman Pantomime of Bihar, India, Bangla Theatre, Natyadhara, Shabdo Natya Charcha Kendra, Prachyanat, Loknatya Dal of Dhaka, Bibarton of Jessore, Shabdaboli Group Theater, Panchoshiri Group Theatre of Barisal and Alternative Living Theater of Kolkata.
The Fact Art & Cultural Society from Bihar staged their 14 shows in the festival. The shows were staged at Shabdaboli Studio Theatre and Ashwini Kumar Hall at 5:30 PM and 7:15 PM every day from January 16 to 22. Besides seminar on 'Existence of drama against hostility' and 'our practice of drama: Viewing again on mirror' was held and other topics related with drama were discussed in the festival every day by leading cultural personalities of the country and abroad.
However, the concluding ceremony of the festival was held with awarding Gias-Milon Natya Padak to Liakat Ali Khan Lucky, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The concluding ceremony at Ashwini Kumar Hall presided over by Syed Dulal, convener of the festival committee.
Syed Dulal, convener of the festival committee, expressing satisfaction about the successful ending of the festival said the festival proved that the trend of practicing healthy culture reflecting social issues by performing theatre on stage and enjoying that by purchasing ticket, still alive in the city.
