Two passerby were killed and three others injured when a private car hit them in front of Shahjalal Science and Technology University (SUST) gate yesterday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Gias Uddin, 60, son of late Abdul Karim, a resident of Karviya village of Jagannathpur Upazila and Md Ataur Rahman,45, a professor of Chhatak Degree College.
Witnesses said, the accident took place Ariful Islam, a teacher of chemical engineer department of Shahjalal University, lost control over the steering while trying to learn driving. His car hit the people in front of the university gate, leaving the one dead on the spot and another injured. The injured died at Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital later.
Akther Hussain, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad police station, said the bodies were sent to Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. We are now investigation the matter.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment. Kamruzzaman, proctor of the university denied the allegation of learning driving for the cause of two death.
