Modern drainage being developed in Rangpur

Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC)  Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has said modern drainage is being developed to build an eco-friendly city ensuring all civic amenities for the citizens, reports BSS.
Jhantu, also a valiant freedom fighter, said while inaugurating construction works of several drainage systems three kilometres in length at Tk 5 crore at different areas  under Ward No-20 in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
The RCC has been implementing construction works of the drainage systems under the City Governance Project (CGP) with financial assistance of the Government of Bangladesh and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Local Government & Engineering Department (LGED) has been assisting RCC in implementing construction works of the drainage systems in the city as the Executing Agency.
The reinforced cement concrete drainage systems are being built in Mulatol, Bank Colony, Passport Office Road, Momdel Commissioner’s House Road, Kotwali Thana Road and Gomostapara Road under Ward No-20 in the city.
With City Councilor Tauhidul Islam (Ward No-20) in the chair, noted cultural personality Hasan Ali, business community leaders Akbar Ali, and social workers Shah Alam Mantu, addressed the ceremony held at Mulatol Thana Mour area, among others.
The City Mayor said the drainage and sewerage systems, roads, culverts, power and water supply systems are being developed in the city as per a master plan ensuring quality of the infrastructures. He directed all concerned for timely completion of the construction works of all the infrastructures, including drainage systems, and cautioned for taking stern actions if any irregularities were found while conducting the development works.
