A tribunal here yesterday ordered judicial investigation into the alleged sexual harassment of a woman by five policemen of Jatrabari and Mugda police station, reports UNB.
Judge Shafiul Azam of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal issued the order after the end of recording complete statement of the victim.
Earlier on Wednesday, the tribunal fixed Thursday for completing recording of the statement.
On the day, the victim lodged a complaint with the tribunal here accusing the five policemen, including officer-in-charge Abani Shankar of Jatrabari police station, of harassing her sexually.
The four other accused policemen are sub-inspectors Jashim and Zaman and constable Debashish of Jatrabari police station and sub-inspector Abdul Kader of Mugda police station.
According to the complaint, Mugda thana SI Abdul Kader’s daughter and the complainant’s brother Imran Hossain got married recently which Kader could not accept.
Kader filed a case against Imran and his family members under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Later, Kader and four other policemen picked up the victim and sexually harassed her on December 3, 2015, it said.
