BCB North Zone have a deficit of 155 runs in the first innings against Islami Bank East Zone in the rain-sodden third day of the second round match of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra yesterday.
North Zone in their first innings scored 59-3 in pursuit of East Zone’s first innings total of 214.
Following the second day called off due to countrywide winter drizzling, the start of the Day-3 had been delayed due to wet outfield and foggy weather condition. When the match started at 2:45pm both teams then got chance to play 24.1 overs at all.
Resuming the third day at 203-8, East Zone lost their remaining two wickets adding 11 runs. Abu Hasan Raju finally added six runs with his overnight 18. Nazmul Islam fell for six.
Sanzamul Islam scalped three wickets. Mahmudul Hasan, Subashis Roy and Nasir Hossain picked up two wickets each for BCB North Zone.
To start their first innings’ proceeding, North Zone in reply lost their opener Mahmudul Hasan, who sent back with a duck and one down Farhad Hossain, who went for 19, in the face of Abu Hasan’s pace bowling assault.
Elsewhere, at Shaheed AHM Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, Walton Central Zone compiled 381-10 against Prime Bank South Zone at stumps.
Central Zone resumed the third day at 233-5 and finally they managed to put on 381 courtesy of Sharifullah’s 91. This middle-order batsman, who fell seven runs shy of his century, stitched a string of partnerships including a useful 65-run with Shahidul Islam for the ninth wicket stand. He added 84 runs with overnight seven. Finally Sharifullah stroked 94-ball 91, clobbering 10 fours and one six before being dismissed. Tanveer Haider failed to add any runs with his overnight 23. Shahidul Islam struck 32 off 70 with four fours to be remained unbeaten.
Off-spinner Abdur Razzak was the most successful bowlers of South Zone whose figure was 5-134. Robiul Islam and Asif Hasan spanned up two wickets apiece.
In reply, South Zone garnered 81-3 in their first innings, where Tushar Imran (33), Fazle Mahmud (32) and Shahriar Nafees (13) were the mentionable contributors. Mohammad Mithun stayed at wickets on one.
