Patients� suffering mounts

Doctors� strike in Ctg pvt hospitals extended

The doctors’ strike at private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres belonging to the Chittagong chapter of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) has been extended till Saturday evening.

However, the services at government hospitals and health complex as Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), USTC, Chittagong General Hospital (Andarkilla), Jameson Red Crescent Maternity Hospitals will be provided.   
On the other hand Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) authorities canceled leave of doctors as ongoing pressure of patents and two separate teams were formed to ensure continuous services to the patients at CMCH.
It was informed after holding a meeting with BMA at CMCH yesterday.
BMA president in Chittagong chapter Dr Mujibul Haque Khan said, “All the private practice for the doctors will remain stopped till Saturday. The next schedule of the movement will be declared by a press briefing on Saturday.”  
 “Treatment will be given at free of cost at ICU (Intensive Care Unit), CCU (Coronary Care Unit) and to moribund patients at clinics,” said Mujibul Haque.
Mentinable, doctors belonging to the Chittagong chapter of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) went on a wildcat strike for 24 hours from 1pm on Wednesday. Work at private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres came to a halt. The strike was in protest against cases filed alleging negligence on the part of doctors. 
Patients and their relatives had to suffer as the private hospitals stopped admitting patients. Even the outdoor department was without a doctor.
The sufferings of the patients found unspeakable, visiting the hospitals and clinics it was found the many patients who came from long distance were being victim of the strike greatly.
Many of them came diagnosis purposes or with disease to take admission at hospitals but forced to return without admission at hospital.
Md Rabiul Alam, came to Metropolitan Hospital from Hathazari with stomach pain, however, he was found leaving the hospital with pain as he was informed no doctor here.
Md Younus, a patient, came from Rangunia with age old complications at National Hospital; however, he was sent to CMC
