Governor of Bangladesh Bank Atiur Rahman yesterday called for coordinated corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts of the country’s banks to make a big change in the society.
“CSR, particularly in the banking sector, is no more a sporadic act of social welfare. It has become an approach and a dimensional change has taken place in the mindset of banks,” he said this while addressing a programme as the chief guest at Jahangir Alam Conference Hall of Bangladesh Bank.
The programme was jointly organised by the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, Association of Bankers Bangladesh Limited (ABB) and Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI).
The findings of CSR impact assessment study and scope of CSR funding in climate change affected areas was released at the programme.
Hasibur Rahman, executive director of MRDI, presented the study reports aiming at expanding CSR interventions in climate change affected areas of three villages of the Sundarbans and off-shore island of Char Fassion.
