Worker killed in Ctg shipyard
A worker was killed after falling from a ship at Madambibir Hat area under Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Akkas Mia, a worker of Nabin Corporation, hailing from Comilla district.
Akkas was killed after falling from a ship when he was unloading scrap goods from the ship at Asad Steel Ship Breaking Yard in the area, said Mohammad Sagar, accounts officer of Asad Steel Ship Breaking Yard.
Nabin Corporation bought scrap goods from the ship yard and Akkas was assigned to unload the goods from the ship, he said adding that the body was handed over to the victim's family members.
Man arrested with arm, ammo
Rapid Action RAB-5, Rajshahi arrested an alleged arms trader with foreign pistol, magazine and ammunitions from Sapura area in Rajshahi city on Tuesday evening.
The arrestee was identified as Sourav Hossain, 30, son of Siddik Rahman of Salbagan area under Boalia model police station of the city.
According to RAB, detective sources informed to RAB members that Sourav works as an illegal arms trader in Sopura area, however based on this information a team of RAB-5, Railway Colony Camp led by Squadron Leader KBM Mohassher Rahim conducted a raid Sopura area on Tuesday evening. Later, RAB members arrested Sourav with a 7.65mm foreign pistol, one magazine and six round ammo.After primary interrogation Sourav acknowledged his involvement with arms trading, RAB said.
3,200kg jatka seized
A team of Fisheries Department and Naval Police in a drive seized 3,200-kg of Jatka (baby hilsa ) from a trawler in Lalkharabad area in Baisal on Tuesday night.
The team also arrested four persons in this connection.
Fisheries officer Wahiduzzaman said fisheries department along with the naval police conducted the drive in the area and seized the catch from a trawler.
The seized jataka was distributed to different madrasas and orphanages in the district.
