CHITTAGONG: Bangladesh Railway (BR) in a special drive yesterday evicted over 55 different types of structures which were illegally erected beside Kanchon Nagar railway station, reports BSS.
Divisional Estate Officer, BR, Eastern Zone, Ishrat Reza led the five-hour eviction drive at Muradabad area of Kanchon Nagar railway station. BR sources said the BR authority earlier issued notices to the illegal occupants and asked them to evacuate nearly one acre of land through loud speakers on Tuesday.
"The structures were evicted jointly by district administration and Railway Security Force yesterday as the occupants were staying there," the sources added.
Another report adds: At least eight dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating fire in Borokabarstan area under Chandgaon thana in the city yesterday morning.
