RAJSHAHI: Ensuring social justice and development of living and livelihood conditions of the ethnic communities in the country's northwest region including its vast Barind tract has become indispensable for their peaceful existence, report BSS.
They viewed that the aboriginal people are always deprived of land rights, food, healthcare, education and cultural facilities and hoped that the government would ensure their fundamental rights besides full-filling other requisite demands.
They also urged the government to safeguard their rights to mother tongue, culture and land. Speakers made this observation while addressing a post-rally discussion marking the 115th martyrdom day of Munda Birsha and Munda Revolution Day held at Shaheb Bazar Zero point in the city today. Center for Capacity Building of Voluntary Organisation (CCBVO) organized the programme in association with Bread for the World Germany and 'The Aboriginals Village-based Sustainable Food Security Programme'.
CCBVO Executive Chief Sarwar-E-Kamal, President of Shaw Unnayan Mustafizur Rahman Khan, retired deputy director of Department of Social Service Mojammel Haque, CCBVO Project Coordinators Everist Hembrom and Nirabul Islam, ethnic minority leaders Suman Mardi, Niranjan Kujur, Minati Saren and Sogen Saren spoke on the occasion.
