Investment and Policy Summit
begins Sunday in capital

The two-day long Bangladesh Investment and Policy Summit 2016 is going to begin in the capital on Sunday with a view to highlight the latest policy developments for private sector growth as well as showcasing the private sector investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
Board of Investment (BoI), Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) are jointly organising the summit at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the conference, a press statement said yesterday.
The statement noted that government has reformed a number of policies designed to promote a competitive climate for private investment and also created a diverse range of investment opportunities.
However, many of the policy developments and emerging investment opportunities are yet unknown or partially known to the investors that needs to be publicised and showcased widely.
To support the government’s initiatives to enhance investment environment and attract investors, the organisers are arranging the summit to provide a platform for both private sector investors and the government to engage in dialogue and exchange latest policy developments. It will also promote investment opportunities in Bangladesh and explore ways to make the business climate more business-friendly, the statement added.
The organisers expect that the conference will result in increased awareness of policies for private sector and investment in Bangladesh as the challenges which arise for lack of knowledge on policies and policy reforms will be addressed in the conference.
Besides there are some other  expected outcomes which include better knowledge on business- sensitive policy design and implementation, exchange of ideas among policymakers and policy reformers, to highlight latest policy developments for private sector growth in Bangladesh.

The programme is also supported by all the major trade chambers in the country.
