The national teams footballers after their woeful result in the ongoing Bangabndhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament, had to leave their team hotel under strong security measures yesterday when some of the clubs officials alleged to be trying to force some of the players the night before to go with them.
However, after the tough security the players went to BFF Bhaban yesterday morning and the national team management had a meeting with the players and announced them free from their clubs agreements.
Before the players reaching the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban, clubs officials gathered there to have their targeted players in their possession.
In this respect, officials and the supporters of some top ranking clubs were very active to have the players they have already fixed on.
National teams captain Mamunul while talking to the reporters said, Now we are free, we have every liberty to choose teams to play but I will not play for my old club this season, if they want then I can play for them as guest player in the AFC competition.
I will have to discuss with my parents, who are my great patrons, before taking a decision but right now I have to take rest, as mentally and physically I am not sound, said Mamunul.
A number of national players echoed the same and said, We are free from today, so we have every right to take decision for which club we will play.
Atiqur Rahman Meshu, who played for Sheikh Russel in the last season told the media, It is not fair, officials and supporters trying to force they players to include them, sometimes it may turn into an embarrassing situation. There should be specific bylaws in the BFF statues.
After a while a number of players left the hotel with the officials of their respective choice.
