While it is tough to be motivated with 2-0 down in a series, Zimbabwe’s convener of selectors Kenyon Ziehl is enthused by the history to claw back against Bangladesh.
“We are 2-0 down as we saw before in Sharjah (against Afghanistan), sometimes we show our best attributes when we are two nil down. We are in the same situation,” said Ziehl yesterday before the practice session of Zimbabwe at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Winning the series is now out of question. What Zimbabwe highest could achieve, is to level the series. Like Bangladesh, they are also on experiment in a bid to get a proper combination for the World T20. Ziehl, who represented the Zimbabwe as a Rugby player said the experiment will be going on as they could bring up a couple of changes to the side. He added, they want to win amid the experiment.
“We have to bounce back to level the series. I think the boys and the players understand that. With that in mind we still have combinations we want to try and working towards our final squad. We are still testing our combinations with a win in mind,” he remarked.
“There will be a couple of changes, mindful in fact that w want to win. We do want to see one or two more players to satisfy our players before our squads are fixed.”
“It’s been a very difficult challenge. I think 4-5 months that I have been in charge here as a convener, we have got challenges but the nice thing is that there’s a lot more cricket. We have seen a lot more players even in the A section they are playing in India at the moment,” he said, adding, “It’s all being narrowed down towards the final squad for the World Cup. We have narrowed it down a lot. So it’s exciting for us that we have seen our players play so much cricket.”
