Prof Shahedur Rashid made JUJA adviser
Professor Md Shahedur Rashid of geography and environment department at Jahangirnagar University (JU) was recently made the advisor of Jahangirnagar University Journalists Association (JUJA).
He was unanimously nominated at executive council meeting of journalist association while JUJA executive member Hasan Dabir Uddin suggested the name.
Mentionable, Prof Rashid served as the chief election commissioner of JUJA election under 2015-16 session with full of dedication.
Earlier, Associate Professor of philosophy department Farid Ahmed served as an advisor.
BSMR Maritime University holds guest lecture
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU), Bangladesh organised a guest lecture on maritime safety and security at the auditorium of universitys temporary campus at Pallabi in the capital yesterday, says a press release.
Daud Hassan, associate professor, Western Sydney University, Australia delivered his lecture on the topic. University Vice- Chancellor Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten, faculty members, officers and the students of the university were present at the lecture.
The scholar inspired the students for their interest to the higher education on maritime sectors and also to be the leader of maritime world. He also expressed his opinion in the lecture to save and secure new wide sea areas of the country.
Dev Memorial Lecture at DU today
The Dev Memorial Lecture-2015 will be held at the RC Majumder Arts Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) today.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present as chief guest at the function with Pro-Vice Chancellor (education) Nasreen Ahmad in the chair.
Dev Centre for Philosophical Studies of Dhaka University will organise the memorial lecture, a press release said.
Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman, dean of the Faculty of Arts of DU, will be present as special guest at the function. Fakrul Alam, professor of the English Department of DU, will deliver the Dev Memorial Lecture titled Rabindranath Tagore at the intersection of nationalism and modernity.
IU folklore dept gets new chairman
Professor Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari of English department has been appointed as the chairman of folklore studies department of Islamic University (IU) yesterday, IU registrar office sources said.
IU vice-chancellor Professor Abdul Hakim Sarker appointed Prof Rashid for the post for the next three years.
He replaced Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, also a former pro-vice chancellor of the university, of the same department.
