2 siblings to die for killing businessman

A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced two siblings to death penalty and fined Tk 5, 000 each for killing a businessman at Chandanish in Chittagong in 2010.
The court also acquitted six others as charges against them could not be proven.
Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury, Judge, Chittagong Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal handed down the verdict.
The convicts are Hesham Uddin and Mohammad Shahid, son of Mozaharul Islam. They duo are absconding now.
The six acquitted were Sajjad, Md Mojaharul Islam, Md Miah, Hakim, Ali Azam and Ayub Khan, of them, first three out of six persons were present at the dock while the court was delivering verdict and the three others are absconding now, said Public Prosecutor of the Tribunal, Ayub Khan.
The PP said on March 7, 2010 at around 10pm the convict killed Mansur Ahmed Khan, 48, a businessman by stabbing at his yard at Bainjury village in Chandanish of Chittagong after calling him from house over a sequel rivalry on land dispute. The convict Shahid stabbed on head and Hesham stabbed on chest of Mansur. The others hit him by sticks.
Local people and police sent Mansur to local Health Complex, however, the on-duty doctors declared him dead. Over the incident the deceased brother Hares Ahmed filed a case at local police station accusing eight people, said Ayub Khan.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police pressed charge sheet against eight persons on April 10, 2012 before the court. After examining 16 witnesses out of 26 the court handed down the verdict.
