A Chittagong court yesterday granted five-day fresh remand for each of three suspected members of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in two cases lodged with Hathazari Police Station over seizing arms and explosive on December 27, 2015.
Chittagong District Senior Judicial Magistrate Mosaddek Hossain Minhaz passed the order.
Earlier, the investigation officer applied for 20-day remand for the each arrestee in the two cases. “After hearing the remand plea the court granted five-day remand in the both cases for the each,” said Md Mashiur Rahman, inspector (Court) of Chittagong District Police.
The trio are Chittagong University’s (CU) physics department students Naimur Rahman Nayan, 25, of Kurigram, arrested from Kazirdewari, Faisal Mahmud, 26, of Noakhali, arrested from Nalapara and Md Shawkat Rasel, 26, of Cox’s Bazar arrested from Aman Bazar area with a US-made sniper rifle huge explosives and Bangladesh Army’s uniform on December 26-27, 2015 from Aman Bazar area under Hathazari police station.
