Mushfiqur Rahim played as a specialist batsman for the first time in the last eight years as rookie Litton Das made his debut in the lone Test against India at Fatullah, turned out to be 50th Test in home soil after the country got its independence.
Before this Test match, Bangladesh played 90 Tests after being kept its footstep in Test arena on June 26, 2000, as the 10th member. The wicketkeeper-batsman is the youngest member of the Bangladesh Test family. A total of 76 players made their Test debut for Bangladesh prior to him.
He earlier was placed in the 14-member Bangladesh squad ahead of the recently concluded home series against Pakistan but he didn’t make his room in the playing XI.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s injury to his ring finger of right hand gave him the chance to come his dream true.
The skipper put the gloves to Litton’s hand before the start of the match. The diminutive skipper played 45 matches in his decade-long Test career, where he didn’t stand behind the stumps twice only. The Bogra-born boy got the wicket-keeping role two years after his impressive Test debut that he did against England at Lords in 2005.
