Group art show by 60 local, Indian artists begins at Shilpangan

A 16-day group exhibition titled ‘Contemporary Print’ by the 60 master printmakers from Bangladesh and India is now on display at the Shilpangan Gallery, Dhanmondi in the city. Jointly organised by Shilpangan Gallery and Kibria Printmaking Studio, eminent Bangladeshi artists Mohammad Kibria, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Monirul Islam, Kalidas Karmakar, Abdus Shakoor Shah, Rafiqun Nabi, Syed Abul Barq Alvi, Biren Shome, Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Rokeya Sultana, Dilara Begum Jolly, Nisar Hossain, Kanak Chanpa Chakma and others have taken part in the exhibition works, while the list of Indian artist includes K G Subramanyan, Nirmalendu Das, Atanu Basu, Nikhil Ranjan Pal and Ramananda Bandyopadhyay.
Chairman of Association of Bankers Bangladesh (AAB) and Managing Director-CEO Mutual Trust Bank Limited Anis A Khan inaugurated the exhibition on January 15, while Vice-Chairman of DBL Group M A Rahim was present as guest of honour. Artist Rafiqun Nabi, president advisory committee Kibria Printmaking Studio, presided over the ceremony.  
Artist Nisar Hossain said, “Bangladesh is far ahead in the field of Printmaking. Recently, we have placed two printing presses in India. Among those, one is located in Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati, India and the other one has been placed in an organisation owned by painter Jogen Chowdhury. As the Indian artists liked the printmaking works of Bangladeshi artists, that is why, we have taken the initiative.”   
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 3pm to 8pm, until January 30.
