Demand for selection grade, time scale

Secretariat employees call for fresh agitation

A group of employees of Bangladesh Secretariat has called for fresh agitation over their three-point demand including the restoration of selection grade and time scale for the non-gazetted employees, which were abolished in the new pay scale. A leaflet issued by leaders of the Bangladesh Secretariat Administrative Officers Association (A/O), Personal Officers Association(P/O), Class IV Employees Association, AO/PO Liaison Committee and Secretariat Officers and Employees Oikkyo Parishad have fuelled interest among all segments of the staff in the secretariat.
A copy of the leaflet was obtained by The Independent yesterday that said, “the leaders are conveying their  ‘heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on completion of  her second term in office, successfully running the country in the spirit of the Liberation War and providing the pay scale.”
The demands include up-gradation of the administrative officers and personal officers (AO/POs) in the Secretariat to grade 9 from grade 10 with the scale of Taka 22,000,  30 per cent secretariat allowance to the secretariat officers and employees as recommended by  the national pay scale, 2015. The leaflet addressing all  officers and employees of the secretariat were signed by Md.Mujibur Rahman, president, Bangladesh secretariat AO Association, Md Anisul Huq, president of  Bangladesh Secretariat PO Association, Md Abdul Quddus, executive president of Bangladesh Secretariat class IV employees Association, Tofael Ahmed, general secretary, Bangladesh Secretariat PO Association, Md Golap Mia, secretary general, Bangladesh Secretariat AO/PO Liasion Committee and Md Ruhul Amin, secretary general, Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees Oikkyo Parishad. They called for maintaining unity among all the employees and officers down from the grade 20 to grade 10 to realise their demands, pointing out that they are trying to arrange a meeting soon with the cabinet secretary, finance secretary and public administration secretary.
