Navana engineer assaulted by BCL men

Project in-charge of Navana Construction Alamgir Hossain was assaulted by Chhatra League men at his office at Char Bewtha in the district yesterday morning after he refused to pay illegal toll. Alamgir Hossain alleged that Samapta Hossain, former vice president of district unit BCL, had been demanding Tk 1 lakh from him as toll for, what he said, giving reception to newly elected mayor Gazi Kamrul Huda Selim. Samapta and six of his associates went to his site office at around 11:00 am yesterday. They first forced his visitors to come out of the office and asked Alamgir to pay Tk 1 lakh. They started beating him with sticks when he refused to give the money, Alamgir said.
“On receiving the information, we went to the site office and rescued him,” said Aminur Rahman, OC of Manikganj Sadar Police Station. Alamgir filed a case in this connection accusing seven people.
