Community Policing activists vow to resist drug abuse, terrorism

Community Policing activists at a rally here have vowed for resisting drug abuse, terrorism and violence through engaging their sincere efforts to turn Rangpur into a peaceful city free from these social diseases, reports BSS.
The Ward No-9 unit committee of Community Policing organised the rally against drug abuse, addiction, terrorism and violence Saturday afternoon at Tapodhan Aliya Madrasa ground in the city.
Member-secretary of the District Coordination Committee of Community Policing Shushanto Bhowmick addressed the rally as the chief guest with President of Ward No-9 unit committee of Community Policing Abu Bakar Mian in the chair.
Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Kotwali Thana Inspector Azizul Islam, President of city unit committee of Community Policing Idris Ali, its member Arif Hossain Tito, City Councilor Nazrul Islam Dewani (Ward No-9) addressed, among others.
Narrating the grievous impacts of terrorism, anarchy, subversive activities, drug abuse and addiction, the speakers called for raising awareness among the people from all walks in life for building a crime-free and peaceful society.
They expressing concern over increasing use of drugs and narcotics said drug abuse has created formidable threat and severe barrier to normal growth and flourishing talent of the young generation.
The chief guest called upon members of the community policing committees for playing pioneering role in freeing their respective areas from drug abuse, addiction, terrorism and violence with the help of police forces when necessary.
He put emphasis on police-people cooperation to reduce crimes and urged the illegal drug traders and drug addicted people to come back to the mainstream society leaving their bad practice for building congenial atmosphere everywhere in the city.
