Masakadza urges batsmen to show more intent

Zimbabwe stand-in captain Hamilton Masakadza urged his batsmen to show more intent after his side tasted the consecutive fourth defeat in T20 Internationals.
The latest annihilation came against Bangladesh who sealed a facile 42-run win to go up 2-0 in the four-match series. Apart from Masakadza, only Vusi Sibanda played a knock to point out in the last two matches. Both Masakadza and Sibanda gave the side a solid start in the last two matches but the middle order sank them in quite ugly fashion.
“I thought it was quite gettable target. The bowlers did well to restrict them to 160-odd. We just needed a bit more with the bat that we managed,” Masakadza said.
Zimbabwe brought up three changed including its regular captain Elton Chigumbura who was left out along with Sikandar Raza and Luke Jongwe. Hamilton Masakadza was elevated to captain in the absence of Chigumbura, while wicketkeeper-batsman Richmond Mutumbami, medium-pacer Taurai Muzarabani and fast bowler Neville Madziva came in but none of them could chip-in-with good bowling or batting.
 “I think it was more of a rest. He has been playing quite a bit of cricket so just gave him a break for this game,” informed Masakadza who didn’t rule out further changes to the squad for the third game.
“We still have to get into the meeting and discuss it. We are not sure what we will go with in the next game.”
