Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim ruled out of the last two Twenty20 Internationals against Zimbabwe due to his injury layoff.
The diminutive wicketkeeper-batsman sustained an injury during the second Twenty20 match against the Southern African nation and has been replaced by fast bowler Taskin Ahmed
National Team physiotherapist Bayjedul Islam Khan said: “Mushfiq has strained his right hamstring while batting. He will undergo a scan in Dhaka tomorrow (Monday). Usually it takes two to three weeks to recover from such injuries. However, we will be able to assess his condition better after receiving the scan report.”
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the national squad for the 3rd and 4th Twenty20 internationals against Zimbabwe without Mushfiq yesterday.
The third and fourth matches of the four-match Twenty20 home series
will be held at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna
on January 20 and 22
respectively.
Uncapped young batsman Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, who hogged the headline with his superb performance in BPL and NCL, was made room in the national fold for first time. All-rounder Muktar Ali had earned calls from the national team earlier but didn’t get chance to play for the colours. And pacer Mohammad Shahid, who played Test for Bangladesh, made the cut in T20 squad for the first time.
New pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman was the important exclusion of the squad. Rahman, who played for Tigers in three formats of games and bewildered the opponent batsmen with his off-cuter, recently placed in ICC ODI squad as the first Bangladeshi genuine pacer by his sublime bowling performance.
