Crisis of tickets at fair price frustrated a large number of cricket fans, who demonstrated outside at Khulna’s Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS), came to witness T-20 matches between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe as its venue.
On the other hand, tickets were found being sold in black market outside the venue at higher price. There was no move either from law enforcers or authorities of the stadium to stop it and nab the sellers of tickets in black market. The Khanjahan Ali Road and the Helatola Road branches of United Commercial Bank are selling tickets at the highest rate of Taka 1000 (one thousand) and lowest rate of Taka 100 (one hundred) each.
Manager Shahadat Hossain of Khulna head office of UCB said, “We are in problem and facing unwanted situation as number of buyers is higher than the number of tickets we have been given for sale.”
Habibur Rahman, a businessman living Tootpara area of Khulna city, said that he had purchased two tickets at higher price from black market to witness the cricket. I had to pay Tk 400 for two tickets one for me and another for my son. The actual price is Taka 150 per ticket for western gallery, he said. We have purchased tickets from black market to witness the match said students Iftekhar, Aminul and Nahid who said they had to pay Taka 200 per ticket against actual price of Taka 100 only.
