Sadia Begum is the only teacher running the North Kadma Government Primary School at Tarafpur in Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail district.
She has been left alone to take care of 255 students after the head teacher went into retirement, one died and two secured transfer. Besides, the school building has become worn out and dilapidated. It may even collapse any time.
Sadia, who is also the acting headmaster, said she takes all the classes and manages the administrative work. It is an uphill task for her.
The upazila education office is also aware of the overall condition of the school.
Upazila Primary Education Officer Md. Khalilur Rahman said that he is aware of the teacher shortage and pitiable condition of the class rooms. The problems have been communicated to the district education office and Directorate of Primary and Mass Education, he said adding these will be solved with in a short time.
