One killed over land dispute

An old man was killed in an attack by rivals over a disputed land at village Chowka in Gafargaon upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was Elim Uddin, 70 of Chowka.
There had been a long standing dispute over a piece of land between Elim Uddin and his cousins, police said.
They said Elim and his cousins engaged in altercations over the ownership of the land yesterday morning.
At one stage, the rival people attacked Elim with sticks at around 11.00 am, injuring him critically, said Md Chand Miah, officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station.
