Amol Roy of Engineers Recreation Centre regained his throne when he claimed a double crown in the Victory Day Tennis Tournament which ended at the National Tennis Complex in the capital on Friday.
Amol defeated Anwar Hossain of Pabna 6-1, 6-3 in the men’s singles final. Amol pairing with Ranjan Ram went to bag the men’s doubles title bating Mamun Bepari and Jamil Bhuyian 6-0, 6-2 in the final.
Afrana Islam Preety of BKSP also showed her mettle in the women’s event when she ran away with a double crown. Afrana inflicted a 6-4, 6-2 defeat on her teammates in the final. Later Afrana pairing with Shah Safina Luxmi won the women’s doubles with a 6-4, 6-1 win against Ayesha Sultana and Jhilik Chakma of Ansar in the final.
The State Minister for Foreign Affairs and President of Bangladesh Tennis Federation Md Shahriar Alam distributed prizes as chief guest.
