The election for 2016-17 term of the Officers' Club Dhaka was held in the capital Friday, electing a general secretary, three vice chairmen, three joint secretaries, a treasurer and 14 executive members.
Additional Secretary of Public Administration Ministry M Ibrahim Hossain Khan was elected general secretary while MA Rajek, Abdul Quader Sarkar and KM Mozammel Haque were elected vice-chairmen of the club, M Jahangir Alam, APS to the Prime Minister told BSS yesterday.
He said Motasim Billah Faruqui was elected treasurer of the club for the two years, while Nahar Ferdowsi Jhorna, Khandker Mostan Hossain and Dr Aminul Islam were elected as joint secretaries. The members are: Tania Khan, Asma Siddika Milly, Dr Feroz Iqbal, M Jahangir Alam and 10 others.
The election was held on Friday on its promises at 26 Baily Road in the capital. A total of 42 candidates contested against 22 posts. According to the constitution, Cabinet Secretary remains chairman as ex-officio.
Seven candidates contested for three vice chairman posts, two for one secretary posts, five for three joint secretary posts, two for one treasurer post and 26 candidates for 14 member posts in the election.
