Three labourers killed in road crash

Habiganj: Three construction labourers were killed and another injured as a truck ran over them when they were engaged in repair work of a road on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Aushkandi in Nabiganj upazila yesterday, reports UNB. Two of the deceased were identified as Maram Ali, 50, and Manik Mia, 40, both hailing from Dhuliakhal in Sadar uapzila of the district.Nurunnabi, officer-in-charge of Sherpur highway police, said a Sylhet-bound rice-laden truck from Dhaka ran over the four labourers amid obscure visibility caused by dense fog around 7 am, leaving three of them killed on the spot and another injured. The injured was rushed to Sadar Hospital. The labourers met the tragic end while doing repair work of a road under the Roads and Highway Department in the morning, the OC added. However, police could not arrest the truck driver as he managed to flee the scene.
