Rafik Azad, one of the most prolific and versatile poets of the country, was shifted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) yesterday from Anwar Khan Medical College Hospital at Dhanmondi in the capital for better treatment, reports BSS. The poet has been kept at the intensive care unit of BSMMU Hospital and is undergoing treatment under the supervision of Professor Dr Harisul Haque. Earlier, Rafik Azad, also a revered Freedom Fighter, was admitted to Anwar Khan Medical College Hospital last night following a brain haemorrhage. The poet fell from a chair he was sitting on as he suffered the haemorrhage. The poet was immediately taken to Birdem Hospital, but unavailability of bed at the hospital compelled his family to transfer him to Anwar Khan Medical College Hospital. Dr Haque said Rafik Azad has been suffering from diabetes as well as kidney and lung complications for a long time.
