Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday said his party doesn’t believe in dismantling any political party rather it believes in people’s power, reports BSS.
“We don’t pursue the politics of vengeance. We believe in people’s power so that the country will be run in accordance with the will of the masses. We don’t want to dismantle any party or combine,” he said.
Mohammad Nasim said this while speaking as the chief guest at a function marking the first founding anniversary of Bangladesh National Alliance (BNA) at the auditorium of the Supreme Court Bar Association in the city.
Co-chairman of BNA Nazim Uddin Al Azad presided over the function, also addressed, among others, by Bangladesh Labour Party President Sekandar Ali, Bangladesh National Congress President Sheikh Shahiduzzaman, Republican Party President Bazlur Rahman Amini and Bangladesh Awami Party President Amanullah Shikdar.
Calling upon BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to take preparations for the next national polls, Mohammad Nasim said, “Reorganise your party and take preparations for the next polls to the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament), which will be held in 2019 under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In the democratic political system, there’s no alternative to polls.” The senior Awami League (AL) leader said, “There’s can’t be any understanding with BNP-Jamaat combine. They didn’t turn up when we invited them for talks. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina invited, over telephone, Begum Zia to Ganobhaban for talks over a cup of tea, but she (Begum Zia) didn’t turn up. There’s no utility in proposing for talks now.”
