Bangladesh and Tajikistan have agreed to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation to mutual benefit for the people of the two countries, reports UNB.
Mentioning the friendly and brotherly relationship with Tajikistan, Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam stressed the joint study of the trade potentials between the two nations.
The issues were discussed when Shahriar Alam met Foreign Minister of Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov and the Minister for Economic Development and Trade, Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, at Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Monday, said a Foreign Ministry media release yesterday.
The other areas of cooperation discussed were hydro-power technology, textiles and garments etc.
The Tajik ministers expressed their willingness for further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Tajikistan.
Shahriar Alam reached Dushanbe on Monday to attend the high-level international conference on the Implementation of the International Decade for Action ‘Water for Life’, 2005-2015 on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The conference was scheduled to begin yesterday in the presence of a number of heads of state and government from Tajikistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Gabon, Kazakhstan as well as the UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon and heads of other UN agencies -- UNDP, UN Women.
