60 km road to be constructed
PANCHAGARH: The government has sanctioned Tk 50 cr for the construction of 60 kilometers Katcha road, one mosque, one temple in 6 ex-enclaves under Debiganj upazila of the district, reports BSS. The decision has taken in the cabinet meeting. Debiganj upazila Engineer Md. Saiful Islam said yesterday that necessary order for the construction work has already come from the higher authority. The construction work will start very soon, the engineer added.
7 gamblers jailed in 2 dists
Mobile court sentenced seven gamblers to imprisonment of different terms in Nilphamari and Jhenidah yesterday and on Wednesday. In Nilphamari, a mobile court sentenced three gamblers to three months jail each at Kishoreganj upazila of the district on Wednesday, reports BSS. The arrested are identified as Toru Ahmed, 25, Rejaul Hoque, 24 and Roni Miah, 18 of the upazila. Sub-inspector of Kishoreganj thana Shahjahan told BSS that on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive and arrested them while they were gambling. Later, the mobile court led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Siddiqur Rahman handed down the verdict on Wednesday.
Our Jhenidah correspondent adds: A mobile court yesterday awarded one month of imprisonment to each of the four gamblers arrested at Paranpur village under Moheshpur upazila on the previous night. Moheshpur police sub inspector Md. Shahid on Wednesday night arrested the four when they were engaged in gambling.
Army provides free treatment
HABIGANJ: Field Medical Camp of 17th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army has provided free health care services to 8,000 poor people of Nabiganj upazila of the district recently, reports BSS. The army also distributed around 1,500 quality blankets among the cold-hit distressed people of the upazila as part of the medical camp.
