Sports Reporter

In spite of Liton Kumar Das and Alok Kapali’s credible centuries Walton Central Zone took a 103-run lead against Islami Bank East Zone on the close of the third day of the first round match in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCB) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium (SCS) in Bogra yesterday.

Resuming the third day at 170-3, East Zone added 185 runs thanks to Liton Kumar Das’s 128 and Alok Kapali’s 100. The overnight duo hit an invaluable 210-run for the fourth wicket stand, where Das added 39 and Kapali 69 to complete their respective maiden century in the current league.
Finally Liton Das made a patient 251-ball 128 before being caught out by Shamshur Rahman off Shahidul Islam. Wicketkeeper-batsman, who dropped out of the national team due to his poor performance, plundered 15 fours and two sixes in his 338-minute stay at wickets.

Elsewhere, at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, BCB North Zone stretched their lead to 204 against Prime Bank South Zone at stumps.
South Zone mustered 344 in their first innings following North Zone’s first innings 392 and later added 156-4 in their second innings.
South Zone resumed the third day at 231-5 and managed to add 113 at the cost of five wickets. He clubbed 10 fours and three sixes in his 86 off 87 balls knock. Taibur finally cracked 76 to start with overnight 36.
