REHAB summer fair begins
Bank interest on house loan should be lowered to single digit as housing is one of the basic rights of the citizen. Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain came up with the observation while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of REHAB summer fair-2015 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital yesterday.
In different foreign countries like--Korea, Singapore and USA, the bank interest for house loan is between 3.5 per cent to 4 per cent, which is much lower than Bangladesh, he said and suggested that the interest rate should be 9 per cent for home buyers.
The minister said housing business was in slump during three months of prolonged blockade and hartal in the beginning of the year, but the situation is stable now.
REHAB demanded many facilities including huge amount of incentive to the finance minister before the budget and few of there demands were accepted. For others provision, I will convey the demands to the Parliament on behalf of the REHAB the minister said.
Alamgir Shamsul Alamin, president of Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) while addressing the programme said We have received tax cut for smaller flats in the announced budget for FY 2015-16, but we need more to rejuvenate the housing sector.
The president of REHAB also requested the minister to convey their demands to the Parliament.
A four-day Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) fair started yesterday with total of 150 stalls of different organisations.
The fair will be open for all from 10 am to 9 pm during the fair. The fair will end on Friday.
