Two sweetmeat shops fined
A mobile court in Chittagong yesterday fined two sweetmeat shops Tk 1.5 lakh for producing food items in an unhygienic condition and selling date expired foods.
The court, led by Chittagong District Administration magistrate and deputy revenue collector Ruhul Amin, conducted drives at two shops named ‘Dayamayee Mistanna Bhandar’ and ‘Sadhu Mistanno Bhandar’. Ruhul Amin said during the drive the court found dead cockroaches, insects and flies on the sweetmeats. The court fined the shops Tk 1.5 lakh and destroyed huge sweetmeats found in unhygienic environment, said Ruhul Amin.
Youth killed after hit by train
A youth was killed after being hit by a train in Pubail area of Gazipur city yesterday.
The victim was identified as Sumon, 35, of Boro Koir area of the city. Witnesses said Chittagong bound train hit him while he was passing through a level crossing in the area around 7 am, leaving Sumon dead on the spot. On information, family members took his body from the spot.
Workshop for journalists held
An awareness workshop organised by Family Planning Department organised for the journalists was held at Civil Surgeon Conference room in Rangpur city yesterday.
A total of 100 journalists from different print and electronic media from district and upazilas level participated in the workshop on current mother and child health and family planning services. Seikh Md Saidul Islam, deputy director (acting) was in chair.
2 cable operators fined
A mobile court On Wednesday fined Tk 60,000 to two cable operators for running business without having any licenses at Dovashi Bazar of Chandraghona of Rangunia Upazila in Chittagong.
Mohammad Saiful Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Rangunia led the drive with the help of Ranguina
police. The court fined Tk10, 000 to Purno Cable Networks and fined Tk50, 000 to Dish Line for operating unauthorised dish lines and lack of licenses. The court also fined SM Flower Mills Tk15,000 and fined Tk2,000 to New Madina Hotel.
